If you are a newcomer to the world of fitness, you might think that joining a gym is a panacea for success in gaining weight or ideal muscle shape.
Unfortunately, if you use the gym only to achieve a temporary goal, it may not bring many changes that eventually make you quickly bored.
Anna Renderer, a certified Personal Trainer at the American Council on Exercise (ACE), says a successful fitness trip is about applying small changes in lifestyle gradually and giving yourself time to get used to, rather than focusing on one thing.
Although gym membership is a good choice in pursuing an active lifestyle, this can have the opposite effect. The gym can make you bored and are reluctant to exercise for a long time for several reasons.
The following is the ‘mistake’ of gym which can make sports spirit fade even in the first months:
Only play favorite tools
Gym is not like playing a musical instrument that you can, but trying everything so that achieving an ideal body weight or muscle formation is successful. For example, you only use a treadmill or bench press, maybe you won’t see any progress, so you end up feeling failed and saturated.
Basically, the body will adapt quickly to the movements that we routinely do. So if you continue to use the same tool with the same tempo, the body will save energy easily, burning fat and muscle formation will not be maximized.
So find a way to replace your workouts weekly, to be effective, as well as fun and challenging. This kind of cross-training allows you to build muscle in different areas and can prevent monotony.
Spending too much free time at the gym
Coming to the gym constantly without enjoying social time, can plunge you into frustration. Although it is undeniable that the spirit of gymnastics can be very great at the beginning, be realistic, apply goals realistically, then all will be good for your mental health as well.
You don’t get bored easily, sports last a long time. So, just make sure you do the longest exercise 45 minutes-1 hour each session for beginners, between 3-4 times a week.
Sports only at the gym
If you consider that enough exercise is only done in the gym and do not do it in other environments, in just 2 months you can feel bored and end up spending a lot of sweat sessions.
If you want a long fitness journey, what is needed is adaptation, so try to do light exercise at home occasionally, it can be yoga or abdominal muscle exercises before going to bed, or you can also run leisurely with a partner or relative on an open weekend.
That way, the body will get used to exercising, feel the benefits, and finally you will continue to exercise because fitness has become a necessity for healthy living.
